VFW Auxiliary have supported hospitalized veterans at VA
Medical Centers, community hospitals, and nursing homes since 1914. Auxiliary members volunteer more than 400,000 hours annually and one in 15 members volunteers through the Hospital Program.
The Hospital Program:
- Promotes volunteerism of members, non-members, youth and families in local hospitals, veterans’ homes, nursing homes, domiciliaries and both VA and non-VA medical centers and clinics. Opportunities vary based on the facility and age and abilities of the volunteer.
- Visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research & Development for information and printable fact sheets of key areas being studied by VA researchers.

Fisher House
Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military
& veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the
hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the
world.
